for Parties, Weddings and Events
Dennis says, "My primary focus at your event is that you and your guests have a great time. I do this by being very in-tune with the music and volume desires that you initially request (on my Pre-Event Checklist, which you fill out well in advance of the event), and then by staying sensitive to you and your guests as these change throughout the event. Having provided the music for over 1000 receptions, concerts, parties, cruises, grand openings and corporate events, I know what it takes to please an audience, and at casuals, to fill a dance floor, keep it full, appropriately change the mood, and make sure that all announcements go smoothly and are dynamic. One thing that gives me a thrill in doing all of this is: knowing that people who don't know me have nevertheless put their confidence in me for their event AND THAT IM GOING TO DELIVER AND THAT THEY WILL BE REALLY HAPPY :-) (See my reviews and video).
I've done hundreds of wedding ceremonies and receptions, corporate events and parties of all kinds and therefore know just what to do (including emceeing) and the right songs to play to make your event great. And this is all done within the parameters (out of all the wedding or reception or party or event possibilities and music styles) that you choose and then communicate to me via my Preferences sheets that I email to you. Plus I can go over options with you. But generally I just play the hits from the eras and styles you choose on my sheet, and just the ones that have proven to be the most danceable and that make it so people can't resist the dance floor :-) But you can also bring any CDs or iPods with songs that are your favorites or I can purchase them ahead of time (no expense to you. But be sure that they are really danceable and really popular. Otherwise you risk the dance floor clearing unless you just want them for listening or a special dance). Im not an overbearing DJ, but do interact with the crowd in a fun way if it feels right. But I do bring over 5000 songs with me. If you want "lights," what I have works great and are a lot of fun. Plus they make the dance floor more inviting. You can see them in the video at my website. And theres also the options of karaoke and/or live music (I've had an internationally bestselling CD as a sax player, and I'm a former member of The Tokens, the band who had the original hit The Lion Sleeps Tonight - which I sing). You can also see those in the video demo here. Regarding the karaoke option, I bring over 1000 songs that are mainly just the hits from all eras and styles. Let me know if youd like me to email you my list. One thing to keep in mind regarding karaoke, is that my system is state of the art in that it is computer driven and not disc driven. That means the time between songs is much quicker. Also, the singers are given a professional treatment with recording studio equipment (compressor/limiter, reverb and digital delay) and therefore sound a lot better. And there is the option of wireless microphones or wired microphones, either on mic stands or hand held. And the display is a 23 HDMI flat screen. Plus I can get any special songs requested."

Picking a DJ might be just a one time event in your life. So here are some questions to ask yourself and get answers to when thinking about picking a DJ.
Definitely go by past clients' feedback. Also, how many events has the DJ done? And how regularly is he booked? And does he love all styles of music? (And all of them will be required at some point on various jobs). Does he have reliable equipment and backup? Is his music laptop-driven (which is also very important for karaoke)? Lighting is very helpful to make a dancing atmosphere. Does he know how to stay focused on the needs and moods of the crowd and change and pick music appropriately? Can he add anything extra if desired ... like live music or karaoke? Can he be an enthusiastic emcee when needed? Or can he lay back when that's what is called for?
Hire an experienced DJ who knows the exact songs that get and keep people dancing. If you hire a DJ who knows what they're doing (like me), you won't need to hire a Wedding Coordinator. I can add extra pizzazz with lighting and celebrity live music (see my credentials). Only hire a DJ or musician who is just there for you and making your event great.
Ive joyfully fulfilled all of the above MANY times :-)

Bio Doug Fulton has been entertaining audiences in the Northwest for over 20 years. His range is broad from MC at a variety of celebrations, DJ, one-man-band and founding member of several top-billed local bands including 3D and The ReFab Four (Beatles tribute act). He has also been a featured entertainer on cruise ships. Doug's easy going style and quick audience rapport will ensure a delightful event from beginning to end.
My personal recommendation of Doug.
I've performed many events with Doug doing live music, and have booked him as a DJ. He's always been a lot of fun and has my same philosophy of doing events: the main thing that makes us happy and satisfied at an event is if the client is happy and the people who attend really enjoy themselves. He has a great personality and, like me, can also provide live music if desired as a great singer, guitarist and/or keyboard player.
"Thank you for making our wedding an awesome event." T.D. - Portland, OR
"Doug's energy and music collection got everybody up and kept them on the floor." A.M. - Tualatin, OR

"Our DJ [Doug Fulton] was great. He put our mind at ease and was so easy to work with. We will have him back." S.H. Lake Oswego
